Why you should work on a pitch regardless of how busy you are.

I appreciate you’re probably thinking “I’m really busy, all of the time”. So, invariably there is never a ‘good time’ to work on a pitch. However, it is one of the most valuable experiences you can have at an agency. Here are the top 5 reasons why you should put your hand up to work on the next pitch brief:

  • It helps build relationships. You may get to work with people you don’t normally interact with.

  • You build your profile within the agency. Win or lose, a pitch helps you to demonstrate your capabilities.

  • You learn about a new brand/discipline. It provides an opportunity to broaden your skill set.

  • It gives you visibility of how a campaign is developed from start to finish, something you may not get to see at a more junior level.

  • It takes you out of your comfort zone. Whether you are asked to present to the client, provide research or connect with new people in your network, it will force you to try something new and that’s never a bad thing!

So, yes, you might have very little sleep for two weeks but it will definitely help you in your career development. Go for it!
